Project Overview

The Weak Defender Social Foundation (WDSF) proposes a humanitarian intervention to provide prepaid electric meters to vulnerable households and communities across Nigeria, addressing energy poverty, promoting transparency, and improving the well-being of marginalized populations.

Objectives

1. Install 5 million prepaid electric meters in underserved communities by 2027, prioritizing low-income households, women-headed families, and persons with disabilities.

2. Reduce energy poverty and billing disputes by enabling accurate metering and financial control for beneficiaries.

3. Promote energy efficiency and conservation through real-time monitoring and awareness campaigns.

4. Support economic empowerment by reducing household energy expenses and improving livelihood opportunities.

Target Beneficiaries

- Vulnerable households in urban and semi-urban areas

- Low-income families, elderly persons, and persons with disabilities

- Women-headed households and youth-led enterprises

- Schools, health centers, and community facilities in deprived areas

Key Components

1. Meter Procurement and Installation

- Source high-quality, NEMSA-approved prepaid meters (Single Phase and Three Phase 4G-enabled) from MBH Power Limited, a reputable organization committed to providing world-class metering solutions and services in line with Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) guidelines.

- Deploy a phased installation plan, starting with pilot projects in high-need communities.

2. Community Engagement and Awareness

- Conduct sensitization workshops on meter usage, energy conservation, and financial literacy.

- Establish community-led monitoring committees to ensure transparency and accountability.

3. Customer Support and Maintenance

- Set up helpdesks and hotlines for meter-related issues.

- Offer training for local technicians to handle repairs and maintenance.
